Jāmi` al-tawārīkh
("The Compendium of Histories"):
جامع التواريخ
Historical
portions of his massive Jāmi` al-tawārīkh ("The Assembling of Histories")
have often been printed but it is only recently that a complete edition is
being prepared and gradually printed in Iran. The Jāmi` al-tawārīkh
was completed around 1307 CE. An important Persian source for world
history it contains much of importance on numerous past episodes. In this
seminal work the Hebrew Bible and Jewish traditions are at times drawn upon
as well as numerous Islamic historical and other sources. Important data
exists covering, for example, the Ilkhanid period.

A COMPENDIUM
OF CHRONICLES: Rashīd al-Dīn's Illustrated History of the World (The
Nasser D. Khalili Collection of Islamic Art, VOL XXVII). Oxford
University Press, USA., 1995. 126pp.
Book Description "BL Contains full-colour reproductions of each folio after the manuscript's
recent restoration. The Nasser D. Khalili Collection is the greatest
collection of Islamic art in private hands. Among its holdings of
outstanding manuscripts is a fragmentary copy in Arabic of the Jami al-Tawārīkh
or Universal History, without a doubt one of the greatest illustrated
medieval manuscripts to have survived from either East or West. Written by
the great historian and vizier to the Ilkhanid court, Rashīd al-Dīn, and
copied in Tabriz between 1310 and 1315 by the author's own calligraphers and
illustrators, the manuscript's importance as the first world history was
quickly recognized. Dr Blair reconstructs the often complex history of its
ownership, explains its seminal role in the evolution of the illustrated
Persian book, and challenges the belief of previous scholars that theNour
fragment and that in the Library of the University of Edinburgh are parts of
different manuscripts. Her study of the manuscript's text and
miniatures--accompanied by numerous colour details and duotone illustrations
of comparative material--provides fascinating insights into the state of
pre-Mongol painting and the working practices of a Persian atelier over six
hundred years ago."

Translations:
"The Rauzat-us-Ṣafā is so
voluminous that only some portions of it have as yet been
translated, although as early as a 1662 historical accounts from it
were given in a book called « Les états et principautés du monde/
first in a French, afterwards in an Italian, and lastly in an
English translation by Stevens in a.d. 1715. This rich mine of
historical and of religious lore has, however, afterwards been
gradually, though as yet only partially, explored in fourteen
European works by authors of various nationalities, as will appear
